Guns, Guns, Guns

My heart breaks at the news of death among two students in Minneapolis due to unchecked gun legislation.

On August 27, 2025, 23 year old Robin Westman shot over one hundred bullets into Annunciation Catholic School, killing two students and injuring eighteen others. The aftermath is devastating and the community is left with an incomprehensible scar.
While the United States of America continues to recklessly allow for legal ownership of military grade weapons, the citizens are left with empty beds and grieving hearts.
On a recent road trip, I witnessed some horrific billboard signs encouraging the purchase of deadly weapons. Not only are guns lacking proper regulation , but they are also being advertised as a fun, lovable tool to have in a household.
In these moments of devastation due to gun violence, lawmakers and government officials shake hands and kiss babies to show their deepest condolences. Yesterday, September 3, 2025, JD Vance, Vice President of the United States arrived at the Annunciation Catholic School and Church to "pay respects".
With so much influence to change the frequency of mass shootings, the Vice President stated little about the legislation and instead offered his presence and prayers. It was expected, but still disappointing and upsetting to witness.
To quote Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey "Don't just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now. These kids were literally praying."
